What is China's Generative A.I. Startup Zhipu?

It’s a little difficult to tell who are China’s best Generative A.I. startup players. While they have all had access to open-source models for a while now, it’s taking some time for the best of the crop to emerge. The ones that I have my eye on are Baichaun and Zhipu.

Today we’re going to try to talk about Zhipu because they received more funding.

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. and Tencent Holdings Ltd. are among the influential Chinese investors that invested 2.5 billion yuan ($342 million) in AI startup Zhipu this year. 2023 was one of the hardest years for startups globally, and Chinese startups did not get the splurge that Silicon Valley gave to US based Generative A.I. startups.
