When Microsoft triumphantly named their Github tool GitHub Copilot to empower coders to be more productive with auto-suggestions, and as software programmers became more competent at using ChatGPT in their work, the idea of the “Copilot” is being elevated with Generative A.I.
Now, another startup shows glimpses of true utility and a foundational model that can use various APIs to connect the dots with human feedback built-in.
I have been watching Adept A.I. for many years, and now in 2023 we are seeing a more realistic glimpse of what they can become.

General Catalyst’s Deep Nishar had this to say: “Adept … possesses a depth of expertise to deliver a commercial product that pushes the generative AI frontier beyond text and image modalities into the practical realm of knowledge worker actions. Excitingly, ACT-1 has the potential to lower the barrier to entry within the enterprise workforce and thus may yield greater inclusive prosperity.”
So when we talk about “productivity tools” and being a co-pilot for tasks in a professional setting, AdeptAI is doing the sort of work that Microsoft or Google might have trouble doing by themselves.
“[W]e’re training a neural network to use every software tool in the world, building on the vast amount of existing capabilities that people have already created.” Luan told TechCrunch back in April, 2022.
